Governance at the local level is purposely aimed at demystifying the governance structure to the barest minimum for all and sundry to have a fair share of what Central Government is doing at the local level.
Ablekuma Central is not in isolation in bringing governance to the doorsteps of its indigenes.
On Wednesday 21st August, 2024, the Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly joined a host of other MMDAS in organizing Town Hall Meeting & Exhibition for the constituents.
This particular one was dubbed “ Accounting To The People; Five years of stewardship“
The Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly since it’s commissioning on the 19th of February, 2019 having been carved out from Accra Metropolitan Assembly to a Municipal status and hence gained its stewardship in the person of Hon. Mariama Karley Amui as the maiden MCE has seen tremendous improvement in various sectors of the economy such as Education, Health, Sanitation, Agriculture Sociam interventions and Infrastructure.
In view of this, the Town Hall Meeting was organized to inform the general populace what the mandate of the Assembly has been for the past five years and to a large extent, what the revenues generated in the municipality have been used for.
As part of the Town Hall Meeting was also Exhibition of the many developmental projects and initiatives the Municipal Assembly has undertaken for the past five years.
The teaming gathered were taken through some of the projects embarked on by the Assembly in all seven electoral areas.
Education; A 9-Unit classroom block at Riyadh, 2 -Story 6 Unit classroom block Max Doudu JHS, 1no.2 Unit classroom and washroom for Kindergarten at Ayaa Ideen Islamic School, Reroofing and painting of Blacksmith School and Barrack Obama School, Distribution of dual desks to schools, construction of ICT lab and Library at Abossey Okai Basic School, Donation of Computers to various schools, Construction of toilet facilities for schools, etc.
In Health and sanitation, the assembly has completed the first phase of a Municipal Polyclinic at Mambrouk and awaiting commissioning for use, provision of CHP Compound, provision of Health Service Directorate, dredging of major storm drains from Borla junction to Abolo junction, desilting of drains in Abossey, Old onion market, Shukura etc, construction of toilet facilities in various communities.
Infrastructure; Renovation of abandoned 12 unit classroom into Municipal office annex, construction of ultramodern municipal Assembly Office Complex, Construction of Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange, Asphalting of roads in various communities, construction of drains across the municipality etc.
The session afforded audience and listeners an opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions.
After the first phase of the program, the Exhibition and display of projects continued for all to see glaringly what was presented at the Town Hall Meeting.
Invitations were sent to all stakeholders of the municipality including, Chiefs and elders within the municipality, Groups and Associations, Market Queens, political parties, the current MP, etc.
